Below provides a profile of the Eastern Europe regional market overall, and interesting facts and information about issues important to both Czech Republic and foreign executives working in Prague.
General Information
For several years now, the Czech Republic has been attracting the attention of investors the world over. The reasons for this are easy to see: a strong and growing economy, equitable and stable conditions, a qualified workforce and the low cost of doing business. Few other countries are currently able to offer a combination of such conditions. For that reason, the Czech Republic is showing consistent yearly growth of capital investments and a growing number of multinational, economically mature companies coming here to do business.
Economy, Business, Science
The Czech economy is growing at a higher rate than the EU average. It is a desirable place for investments and business activities. Unmistakable Czech beer, cars and excellent glass products are popular the world over. The success of Czech science is also well-demonstrated, with many patented inventions and discoveries.
History
Czech culture has firm roots in a rich and plentiful history. Tourists and visitors from all over the world can marvel at some of the most beautiful and oldest pieces of architecture, literature and fine arts.
Geography
The Czech Republic is a landlocked country in the middle of Europe. Rather than as a country in the middle of Europe, we should speak of the Czech Republic as a country in the heart of Europe – after all, the heart is not to be found precisely in the center of the human body either.Cultural Heritage
Prague, Český Krumlov, Brno, Telč, Karlovy Vary and many more – the Czech Republic is the treasury of beautiful historical and dynamical contemporary European art. It lives from its distinguished culture commemorated with many traditions and red-letter days.
Czech arts
The most visible proof of Czech cultural maturity are the works of art that can be seen in theaters, cinemas, libraries, globally recognized galleries and concert halls. The composer Antonín Dvořák, writer Franz Kafka, painter Toyen, Oscar-winning director Miloš Forman, writer Milan Kundera and singer Magdalena Kožená were all born in the Czech Republic, and their work is known around the world. The Czech writer Karel Čapek invented the word robot, in his play RUR.
Politics
The Czech Republic is a democratic country in which Parliament holds the central role in the political system. The president of the Czech Republic has limited powers but he is the official head of state.
